FLOOR LEVELLING

most floors are not level or flat and the application of a floor smoothing compound will provide a much improved surface for fixing tiles. Preparation is the key to every successful tile installation in both new and old properties alike.

OVER BOARDING TIMBER FLOORS

re-boarding or over boarding wooden floors – to prevent tile failure due to deflection wooden floors should be strengthened and over-boarded with suitable WBP plywood to achieve a more stable substrate for tiling. Replacing existing floorboards or chipboard flooring with suitable plywood is a further option if increasing the floor height by over-boarding presents a problem.

RE-GROUTING

discoloured or damaged grout can be removed and replaced giving a tiled installation a new lease of life.

RE-SILICONE & SEALING OF PERIMETER JOINTS

internal mastic service can be offered to maintain a watertight seal and provider an expansion joint to prevent unsightly perimeter cracks from compromising a tile installation.

REMOVAL OF TILES

many jobs involve updating rooms that are already tiled. Sometimes these areas can be over tiled but in most instances the removal of tiles is the most preferred option.

SUPPLY OF MATERIALS

materials required for a successful installation can be provided such as adhesive, grout, tile trims, silicone sealant, tanking kits and uncoupling membranes. All materials used are of the highest quality and backed by a manufacturer’s guarantee.

SURFACE PREPARATION, REMOVAL OF EXISTING TILES

preparation work is an integral part to a successful tiling installation. Waste materials can be removed from site but a charge for this service would be applicable.

TILE CUTTING & HOLE BORING

after a tiling installation many fixtures and fittings will require fixing to substrates that cannot be drilled using standard drill bits. Specialised drill bits and core bits are used to guarantee a successful fitting service.

UNCOUPLING MEMBRANES

a form of isolation matting is available to provide a sound base for the installation of tiles on problem substrates, and on heated screeds where a natural stone tile is the preferred option of flooring. The membrane is designed to prevent expansion/contraction movement, especially on wooden substrates, being transferred through to the tiles, therefore preventing cracks. The system only works on movement across the floor and not in cases where vertical deflection (up and down movement) is apparent. Although not essential new floors, new screeds and floors with in screed heating will benefit from a membrane installation.

WATERPROOFING/ TANKING

tanking is a waterproofing procedure carried out in bathrooms, wet rooms, shower rooms and sauna/steam rooms which protects the building against moisture migration and leaks. Waterproof tile backer boards and tape are the preferred option for a new installation, not to be compared with water resistant boards. Alternatively, if waterproof tile backer boards are not an option, all shower enclosures and wet rooms should be protected from water ingress through the application of a liquid tanking membrane and tape, self adhesive floor tanking kits or alternatively a separation matting and tape.

UNDER-TILE HEATING

for existing floors where a pipe fed water system is not an option electric heat mats or loose cable systems are available for both concrete and wooden substrates. The installation of insulation boards is highly recommended for such systems to run more efficiently.

WET ROOMS

make the most of your space from a small closet area to a total bath replacement. Every wet room presents new challenges and will require in depth assessment to determine the correct procedures for installation. There are numerous shower enclosures and screens available if an open plan wet room is not an option. Perfect for creating a super stylish and contemporary look within your home.A true wet room is a completely watertight room simply furnished with a shower. There is no conventional shower tray as such but a shower area, which is a continuation of the floor. The room can be as small or as spacious as you like and can also incorporate a wall hung basin and toilet to make the most of the space.Wet rooms have a perceived high value status due to their association with luxury spa hotels and this is considered a bonus to a property’s resale value. However be wary of completely converting the main bathroom in a family home, as many future buyers will expect a family bath.
